European Rivals of Google to Partner in Developing Their Own Search Engine Infrastructure

Forex - Two search engines competing with Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Ecosia and Qwant, have announced a partnership to create a European search index and reduce their dependency on major U.S. tech companies.

The two internet search firms have reached an agreement on a joint venture called the European Search Perspective (EUSP), which will be equally owned by both companies.

The initiative, which is planned to be operational in early 2025 in France, aims to provide "enhanced" search results in French and German.

Ecosia is headquartered in Berlin, while Qwant is based in Paris. Qwant is a privacy-focused search engine that promises not to track users or resell their personal data. Ecosia’s search engine focuses on sustainability, committing to plant a tree for every 50 searches conducted on its platform.
