Emirates NBD Announces Departure of DenizBank CEO Hakan Ateş and Appointment of Recep Baştuğ as New CEO

Emirates NBD announced that Hakan Ateş will be stepping down from his position as the CEO of DenizBank and that Recep Baştuğ has been appointed as the new CEO of the bank. Emirates NBD revealed that after 27 years of exceptional leadership, Hakan Ateş will leave his role as CEO of DenizBank. He will continue his work within Emirates NBD as a Member of the Board of Directors of DenizBank.

Ateş has played a significant role in the bank's success since he began his tenure as the Founding Chairman of DenizBank in 1997. Under his leadership, DenizBank became one of Turkey's leading financial institutions and a pioneer in digital banking and innovation.

Following this transition, Recep Baştuğ will take over the role of CEO of DenizBank from Ateş, effective January 1, 2025. Baştuğ brings a wealth of experience in leadership and industry knowledge gained over his 35-year banking career. Most recently, he successfully managed Garanti BBVA, Turkey's second-largest private bank, during a period of significant macroeconomic and competitive challenges.
