President Erdoğan: "They May Have Iron Domes, but We Have Our Steel Dome"
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his statement regarding the terrorist attack at TUSAŞ, reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to combating terrorism. Despite the deep sorrow caused by the loss of martyrs, Erdoğan emphasized that Turkey's resolve to fight against those threatening the country's future has only grown stronger. "They cannot make us take a step back with such cowardice," he stated.
Erdoğan highlighted the motives behind the attack at TUSAŞ, noting that such attacks target the nation's peace and security. He mentioned that terrorism aims not only to shed blood but also to create an atmosphere of fear within society. Additionally, Erdoğan warned that terror leaders would ultimately fall victim to their acts, emphasizing the nation's resilience in the face of such assaults.
Social Media and the Threat of Terrorist Organizations
Erdoğan pointed to the misuse of social media platforms by terrorist organizations, stating that these platforms are leveraged to amplify the impact of terror. He criticized the lack of the same level of sensitivity towards Turkey that is shown in response to terrorist activities in the West, expressing disapproval of this double standard.
In his remarks, Erdoğan underscored the intertwined nature of social media and terrorism, warning about the dangers of content spread on these platforms following terrorist attacks. He stated that these platforms have turned into operations complementing the deficiencies of terrorist organizations, noting the risks this poses to national security.
Criticism of Media Channels
Erdoğan also criticized the media channels for rapidly broadcasting images following the TUSAŞ attack. He claimed that the media operates based on ratings concerns and determined to address such irresponsible behavior. He stressed that the rights and interests of esteemed state institutions should not be sacrificed for the sake of rating competitions.
Moreover, Erdoğan emphasized the need for print and visual media to demonstrate responsible broadcasting practices. Highlighting the potential negative impact of certain broadcasts on society, he called for more careful conduct in this regard.
Advancements in the Defense Industry
In his speech, President Erdoğan touched upon the progress made in the defense industry over the past 22 years. Noting that a saga has been written in the defense sector despite obstacles, Erdoğan said this success is acknowledged even by opponents. Drawing attention to the role of the Turkish defense industry in combating terrorism, Erdoğan remarked, "Some might have an iron dome, but we have our steel dome."
Erdoğan mentioned that soldiers fighting against terrorism in pre-2002 years closely followed developments in the defense industry, highlighting the strategic gains these advancements provide for Turkey's security. Emphasizing the significance of progress in the defense field for Turkey's future, Erdoğan expressed determination to continue efforts in this area resolutely.
